Working Achievement Award

Natural Hunting Certificate Below Ground in the Field

JRTCA LogoThe JRTCA Natural Hunting Certificate Below Ground in the Field is the highest certificate awarded by the JRTCA. It is awarded for natural earthwork by the terrier and owner, judged by a sanctioned working judge, and is issued to only JRTCA registered or recorded dogs. The terrier and its owner must work together in combination to be awarded this certificate. The certificate can be awarded several times to the same dog, as long as each time it is earned, it is for a different quarry worked.

Bronze Medallion for Special Merit in the Field

The Bronze Medallion for Special Merit in the Field is the highest award presented by the JRTCA. Terriers that have earned this award are considered to be experienced working terriers, have worked to ground successfully to three different quarry, along with their owners. The bronze medallion plaques are presented annually at the JRTCA National Trial in October, and they are also included in the JRTCA on-line Yearbook.

Working Achievement Award for Continued Field Service

To earn a Working Achievement Award for Continued Field Service, the Terrier must earn 6 Natural Hunting Certificates (NHC) over multiple years. These 6 certificates can be to one or all of the JRTCA approved quarry. At least one of the 6 certificates has to be earned after the Terrier is 6 years old. Certificates earned for a Bronze Medallion will count toward the Working Achievement Award.

Submit your NHC applications in the normal way to the club office. Once you have received 6 NHC's, submit a photograph of your working terrier for publication in True Grit.
