Urination in retaliationPosted by: julia jacobsCategory: Behavior Problems Posted on: January 28, 2001 at 18:14:50

| Question: Our JRT is a wonderful dog, and housetrained. However, whenever we do something that makes him upset, such as not allowing him to do whatever he pleases, he goes to a sofa or a certain place on the floor and urinates. It is an act of revenge, we feel sure, since it only happens when he is greatly upset over what he seems to feel is a great injustice. I have no idea how to deal with this. I never actually catch him doing this so I cannot reprimand him at the time. However, he always makes it a point to be at an observation point as I clean it up. It is such a clear act of intent to punish, he almost speaks the words! Please help me to know how to deal with this.
