Question:

: First, I am a true dog lover, and have raised a couple of dogs in my years.
: Presently without a dog, living ON the beach in southern Cal. and plan on moving to Vt. this summer. I thought it would be a good time to get a pup now, and get a few months under our belt before we move to Vt. , it is a very remote property, close to 1500 acres. I was wondering it the JR would be too small of a dog to live in such a remote/wild enviroment. Many moose and bear presently living there, just kind of worried about such a small dog defending itself if necessary. I would like he/she to have independence on the property.
: I know this sounds sort of lame, any advise .......Ted

Please run the JR Profiler and see if you are suited to be owned by a Jack Russell. The only thing I would be concerned about is that Jack Russells need containment and you as a responsible owner should provide this. You may want to consider a larger breed of dog, as this dog would not back down from a Moose or a Bear and you would loose your pet.
Regards
Linda
