Question:

: I am interested in importing one or two Jack Russells. I thought I might want to have one shipped to me directly from England to improve my breed quality and to get some new bloodlines. What do I need to know of the breeders outside of the JRTCA in order to be able to register the dog with the JRTCA once I get him/her. Also, can you tell me the general costs for having a dog shipped. Also, what is involved in bringing a dog here from out of the United States? Will it have to be quarantined? Also, I know that the JRTCC (Canda) is a sister affiliate. If I get a dog from a JRTCC breeder, is that any easier to register with the JRTCA?

Vickie you will need to contact the Club office directly on the requriment of importing dogs from Breeders in England. Contact the JRTCA
As for the cost this will depend on a lot of things and this should be discussed with the Breeders you are interested in getting the dog from. There isn't any quarantine on Dogs coming into the USA.
Most Canadian Breeder have the same lines as the US has and we don't consider them foreign breeders.

Personally most of the Foriegn Judges I have talked to say the American dogs are nicer than the ones in England, and at least with buying a dog here you will know that they dog is sound and the Parents have been BAER and CERF tested. There are many lines in the US that are different, you just have to do your homework when buying a dog.
