Question:

: My JRT (Pizzazz!) is just about 7 years old now, we have had her since she was a puppie. Pizzazz! is spade. Pizzazz! is a very aggressive JRT (our ve reffers to her as "the dark side of JRTs", his former receptionist raises JRTs and agreed with this assesment). Once we established ranking in the pack, we have not had problems with Pizzazz! (this took some doing however). Pizzazz! is an only dog, she stays home during the day and has run of the house (we only box her when we have repair people etc. in the house). This has worked well. My question is:

: I am tired of hearing stories of unwanted JRTs, my philosphy is that you keep the dog you get. With this in mind, I am considering adopting a male JRT (neutered). My concern is that Pizzazz! will attempt dogacide on the guy and we will come home to a dead or severly injured JRT. If I am to take in a second JRT, I need to know how to select a JRT that has a good chance of being a friend of Pizzazz!, she is a pretty crochety critter, and seems to become more so as she ages.

Hi Hal,
Yes Rescue is a big problem, but I don't know if I would consider it with what you have told me about your dog. Being the age she is she may not accept a new dog into your home. I would NEVER consider leaving two dogs alone uncrated if you leave that house, this isn't a safe thing to do.
I can't tell you what to do, but if you are interested then you need to go to the Link below and fill out an application.
Please give this careful thought, as you know you know your girl better than we do.
Regards
Linda
