Hi Josanne,
How about a little boredom relief for this poor pup? Excessive barking is ususally due to lack of exercise and boredom. Try getting him out for regular exercise at least twice a day. My Jacks, and most that I know, are so busy playing and running around when their owners are home, that when the people are out, the dogs catch up on some much needed sleep.
