Question:

: I just got a terrier from the pound and he he very shaky and shy is their any way to make him feel comfortable and to get him to be playful like most dogs

Hi Nicole,
Give him LOTS of time. The pound is a very scary place, and to him, your home and family is unfamiliar and very scary too. He'll need time to learn that you aren't going to abandon him and that your home is permanent. He'll be running the show around there soon enough, I'm sure.
You may want to consult a trainer who uses positive reinforcement methods for exercises in gaining his trust and respect, but time is going to be their strongest reccomendation as well. The additional help may make your feel better though.
