Question:

: We have a 9 month old JRT who is now going on her 5th bed. We started off with just a cheap foam bed that she ripped apart within a few days. We've continually tried new types of beds to put in her crate, but she continues to chew them apart. Just recently we bought a really durable pillow that had a corduroy-type shell, and amazingly it didn't even last 1 day. We of course keep a couple chews and toys in her crate to play with, but it seems like the bed is her favorite chew toy. She was done teething a few months ago so I don't know what else to do. I know there has to be something more durable that is made for other breeds of dogs that can do more damage chewing than a JRT. Does anyone have a suggestion on a bed/lining they use for their JRT?

: Thanks,
: Brian

Hi Brian,
Is it possible that your pup is not getting enough exercise, and lets her energy out on her blankies? If your dog is getting plenty of exercise (and in most Jacks this means way more than a few walks a day), then I would reccomend no blankets or pillows in her crate, unless you want to keep spending. To tell you the truth, I've never known a JRT to completely destroy out of any other reason but doredom; chew on or put holes in, yes, but mutilate, no.
Good luck!
Heather
