Question:

: Hi, My Hercie (3 yrs.) has a canine tooth that from birth has closed into a hole in the top of his mouth. He seems to eat and chew fine but the other day my Vet noticed a stick had become lodged in the hole (which we removed) and recomended I go to a dental specialist which I did. He gave me three choices: pull the tooth out completely, file it down and cap it or 'braces'. I am leaning towards filing it since it probably is less painful.Have any of you done this and what would you recomend? The vet says the hole should close up when the tooth is no longer there or is shorter. He said leaving the hole might pose a risk of infection if a connection is established to the sinuses. Thanks again Fritz

This is something that you will have to decide, and between you and your Vets, you can come to the best decision. Without being able to see the dog and the mouth there isn't any way for us to tell you what to do.
