Hi, Bryan,

As strange as this may sound, there are an awful lot of reasons why your terrier does not sleep with you. You see, dogs don't think like humans do. They don't think "I like this person best, so I'm going to sleep with him."

Your terrier may see you as the alpha and not feel worthy of your bed.

Your terrier may feel more protective of another member of the family, and feel the need to sleep with that person in sort of a guardian capacity.

It would benefit you to pick up some books on canine behavior. Training Books so you understand how your dog's mind works. I would venture to guess that it has NOTHING to do with weather or not he likes you or favors you as his favorite human.

My terrier, Rowdee, will NOT sleep on my bed. No way. No how. He has a pile of blankets in the corner of my room that he sleeps on. If he comes on the bed, he's almost tense... like he doesn't belong there. He lets me pat him, and hug him, but once I'm done touching him, he's off the bed like a shot, over to his pile of blankets. The fact of the matter is that he has a really strong personality, and being on the alpha's bed is almost stressful for him. No idea what created this in him, since the other dogs all love the bed, but he's not going to change, and I prefer for him to be comfortable, so I'm okay with him over on the blankets. I sure don't take it personally, because this dog undoubtedly is attached to me.

Hope this helps!
Jane
