Question:

: Our 1.5 year old Jack, Niles, has always had very animated dreams-which my husband and I find quite amusing. We've gotten used to the muffled growls, squeaky barks, and even getting kicked in the leg a time or two. However, lately we have noticed him doing something different. Instead of just lying on his side and running, he is frequently sitting up or even standing on the bed, eyes closed, having a dreamy squeaky barkfest.

: Last night was the pinnacle of these sleep "standing" incidents. He started by running while lying on his side, looking like a cartoon, and barking. All of sudden he let out one of those muffled growls, stood up, hopped off the bed, and with eyes closed, lifted his leg on the bedroom wall. No, he was not urinating, he just stood there, eyes closed. He let out a big sigh and layed down on the floor and started running, all without opening an eye or acknowledging our calls. We both thought we had gone crazy, but sure enough, this afternoon he walked into the wall during his nap. Are we the only people who have ever had a sleepwalking Jack or any other dog?

: As a side note, we got some great video of him during this afternoon's nap and the vet has referred us to a behaviorist (after laughing hysterically at our video).

Oh Bless you, this one has made my day, I have never laughed so hard at anything, and I don't mean to sound flip but this is a new one on me!
First of all I have had these guys for 17 years and I haven't ever hear of this, running while laying down and barking and yes even growling while sleeping but never this.
Please let us know if you find out anything and I hope you will see a behaviorst, I sure would love to know!
Enjoy your Niles, he sounds great to me!
Still giggling,
Linda
