Question:

: My boy is on the tall side, and I have read your criteria for measuring the height of a jrt, but I have NO CLUE what a wicket is!! I have stood him up, placed a yard stick next to him in the same spot as shown in your example, then placed the flat of my hand across the highest point of his shoulders, and determined his height where my hand and the yard stick meet (he's almost 14 inches with this method). Is that correct, or is the measurement suppose to incorporate the curve of the dog from the center of his shoulders to the ground?
: Thank you
: Karin

Hi,
A wicket is a divice used for measuring your terrier. If you will go to the link below you can see exactly where to place the wicket and exactly how to measure your terrier. You can buy wickets at The Jack Russell Store, but what I have used in the past, is a yard stick and a wide tooth comb that the tines of the comb will fit over the yard stick thus making the slide, as in a wicket.I used this device for many year before purchasing a wicket and wasn't off much, lol Your terrier should be measured on a hard flat surface and not in the yard to get a correct measurement.

Here is a link to the Fun menu, and on that menu you will see a link to related products for Jack Russell, if you click on this and scoll down you will see a link to the Jack Russell Store if you are interested in purchasing a wicket.

Hope this helps you some.
