Question:

: We have a JRT/Sheltie cross. He is a neutered male, about 8 years old and definitely all JRT in personality!!! His lifelong companion, a 120lb St. Bernard/German Shep cross, neutered male, recently had to be put to sleep because of cancer. These two dogs were great buddies. The big dog was very laid back and tolerant of the JRT. The JRT is lonely, he sits in his chair all day!! The problem is the JRT cross is very aggressive with other dogs. How do we go about introducing a new companion to him? We have one picked out at the shelter. This dog is a lab cross, neutered male, very laid back.

Hi, The problem here is that you have two of the same sex and since you stated that your present dog is more like a JRT, this is not advised. Same sex aggressions is well documented in this breed and no one advises having two of the same sex. If you will use the search engine on this subject and check the board you will find many posts about this.
Sorry I really don't know what to tell you because 9.5 times out of 10 it will not work.
