Question:

: Hello,

: I have a male jack russell that will eat till he drops. He was born 2-3-01 and I give him 1/2 a cup of food a day of Scientific Diet. I also have other animals in the house which have food bowls and my jack will attack the food if we are not watching every second. I will solve that problem by putting those bowls out of reach but would like to know if this can be changed? I would like to have a big bowl out for him so that he can eat when he is hungry. Is this possible with this breed?

Please don't leave food down. If you dog goes off his food how are you going to know it? This is one of the first ways a dog will tell you that something is wrong, by going off his food. YOu have know way of knowing this if you leave food down at all time. Besides it encourages obesity in a dog, and this is also very bad, Obesity in dogs puts extra stain on the heart and if you care a bout your dogs, and I know that you do, you don't want an over weight dog!
Please get your dog on a schedule and feed twice a day! Put the other food bowls out of his reach if you must feed the other amimals free choice, but I really don't recommend this for any animal. To me it is the lazy way out of caring for your pet, and I know that you like my self want what is best for him/her.
