"butt" defense? funny stuff!

we have a wonderful 8 month old jrt male, named oscar. he is a little firecracker. anways i have a question about some of his behavior. He has this stuffed toy that looks like a little troll, and when he plays with it, he will back up his caboose ( butt ) and sit on it and then try to bite it from around his body. It is the funniest thing i have ever seen. Recently he has started to do this with even me and my wife. He will jump up on the bed and we will kneel down on the floor and play with him at our height. He then procedes to use his " butt " and backs it up into our face and then plays that way. Is this some type of defense for him, since he is a small dog? Please advise....hahaha
