Hi Sarah,
No dog is born knowing English, so they all need to be taught that the word "come" means. This may be a longer task with a breed with strong hunting instincts like the JRT.
That said, while we all reccomend this type of training for JRTs, we also don't reccomend the dog running loose. Fences are your friend.
