| Question: : Can a JRT be trained to retrieve? Can they be trained to catch frisbies? ------------------ Response Area ------------------- If you're looking to buy a dog to retrieve and catch frisbees, I'd have to say you're looking at the wrong breed. If you're looking to teach your present dog to retrieve and catch frisbees, there's a possibility, but this breed really isn't the type to get into that kind of thing. I have a couple serious retrieving fools who love to chase balls and bring them back... and chase them... and bring them back... and chase them... (you get the picture... it could be ENDLESS if I didn't tire out and call it quits), but the rest of my terriers could care less about that kind of thing. I swear it's almost as though they look down their noses at it, as if to say "how could this activity POSSIBLY benefit me? It seems stupid. Show me a hole to dig in... THEN I'll be impressed." They might chase a ball away, but the likelihood of these particular dogs of mine finding anything fun in a game of perpetual retrieval is pretty low. Hope this helps answer your question. Jane |
