| Question: Someone opened our gate and of course our JRT and Pekingese ran off. A neighbor said he saw them running on the street at 8:00 p.m. and another neighbor tried to bring them home at 9:00 p.m. When we got home at 11:00, the first thing I did was go to the backyard to let the dogs in. Our JRT came out of his kennel/crate and was happy to see us. The Pekingese was nowhere to be found and it was while looking for him that I noticed the gate open. The amazing thing to me is that the JRT "came home" and waited patiently for us in her kennel in the back yard. I had always feared letting her off the leash that she would indeed run off. (By the way, found the Pekingese the next morning several blocks away while putting up lost dog signs, also, the gate has a lock on it now! My instinct is that the next door neighbor opened the gate hoping that the frequent barking JRT would run off and not come back.) My question . . . is there any way to minimize JRT barking at noises?
