Hot wire fencing

Question:

I just wanted to put my two cents here. I had a problem with my 1 1/2 year old female, she couldn't be outside for 30 seconds without diging a hole under the chain link fence and getting out, and it really took her seconds to dig enough for her to get out. After looking at the different solutions I had available I decided to put a hot wire. I went to the local hardware store and they had a big selection, My step dad wanted the one that is used for cattle and horses, PLEASE DON'T USE THAT ONE, that is a bit too much electricity for a 10 to 15lb JRT, the one I got is designed specifically for dogs it is the K-9 one and if your dog is under 10lb there is an attachment that will lower the watts on the wire. It was a god sent, and I haven't had a singel escape since, and I touched the wire, because I am not going to put my dogs trough pain, and it is not painfull it is just kind of weird.
It was really easy to install too, I just cut some 1/2 inch PVC pipes about 12 inches long, one straight cut at one end and one at an angle to use as a stake, and I drilled a hole at the top to run some wire to tie the hot wire and that was it. So if you are having problems with your JRT getting out do your doggie and your self a favor and install a hot wire.
