| Question: : Okay, I was just looking at a the List of Disorders Noted in Jack Russell Terriers. I completely understand the aggression issue that many Jacks have, but I am interested in knowing is this "behavioral disease a legitimate disease and how common is it? : Let me give you a bit of info on my Jack. He almost a year old. He is the only pet we have. It is just my wife and myself in the house. He is neutered. He gets plenty of exercise, attention, and training. He loves people and other dogs. But he can't be trusted around any of the above. He came from a reputable breeder and a good line. He has never been mistreated (hit, kicked, etc). He has always been VERY dominate when it comes to playing and just everyday things. I did have a phase where he thought he was above my wife and I in the pack, but I think we worked that out. The problem is this. He just seems to "go off" and attack for no reason. For instance. I can be sitting on the couch, he would be sitting between my feet and just by reaching down and stroking him gently, he will turn, growl bite, and then actually start to come after her. literally attacking. Other than these unprovoked instances, he is a great dog. Loves to play, goes everywhere with me. He is my best friend. He just seems to "snap" (snap meaning mentally) : I have spoke with everyone from my breeder to behavior consultants to trainers to the Jack Rescue. I have taken all the steps to help lead him down the right path. Again he is great except for these instances. : I would love to her from anyone who has first hand knowledge with this disorder. (if in fact that is what it is) : Thanks, : Craig ------------------ Response Area ------------------- Best wishes, Brenda |
