| Question: : How much does a full grown Jack Russell Terrier weigh, and how tall does it get? ------------------ Response Area ------------------- Hi, Hattie, A Jack Russell that fits the JRTCA standard JRTCA Breed Standard will typically be within a pound or two of it's height, and the height of a Jack Russell should be between 10 and 15 inches (although sometimes you'll find terrier out of that height range). Basically, a 10 inch terrier will be about 10 or 11 lbs, and a 15 inch tall terrier might healthily weigh up to 17 or even 18 lbs. or so depending on bone density and musculature. Just to give you some idea... I have a 10 inch tall dog with dwarfism who weighs about 12 lbs. My terriers who fit the JRTCA standard are a 12 incher who weighs 11, an 11 3/4 who weighs 11, a 12.5 who weighs 13.5 and a 14 inch tall dog who weighs 15. My females are lighter than my males. Short legged terriers are typically heavier per inch, so the above guidelines don't pertain to them. Jane |
