can't jump very high???

hello, i searched the faq and i hope i didn't miss anything regarding this. i've had my dog Harry for about a year. We got him at the humane society when he was six months old. I almost didn't bring him home because of some poorly behaved jack russel's i had met before but that fuzzy face just stole my heart. anyway, every other jack russell i've ever seen is constantly jumping up and down, we used to call them yo-yo dogs because of that, yet i've never seen Harry jump very high at all. he can't even get up on the bed. he doesen't seem to be in pain but i think it's rather odd that he's not constantly bouncing. anyway, i'm wondering if i should be worried about this or not. could something be wrong with his legs?? could his prior owner have taught him not to jump up? Do i just excersise him enough so he doesen't have the energy left to leap around all day? I'm not complaining, all that bouncing could be annoying but i am slightly worried.
