Question:

: Our 14 week old male JRT won't do his business outside unless someone is standing next to him. It's almost like he's afraid the poop monster is going to get him if he dosen't have someone to watch for him. He can stay in the back yard for hours but refuses to go. When he's let back in the house he finds a hiding place and goes in the house. This goes for urinating also. We would like to let him go outside by himself to do his business but instead one of us has to go with him and stand there until he goes. What to do?

Hi Keith,
He's just a baby. Give him some time to become more confident. At this age, you should be going outside with him every single time he potties. You need to be able to immediately reinforce good behavior. If you wait until he comes in, all you are rewarding is coming in the door, not good potty habits.
Have fun with your pup!
