Hi, Audra,

I'm not completely sure what you mean by "papers." If you don't have a signed stud certificate from the father of the pups, and a signed pedigree from the breeder, I'm afraid you can't register your terrier with the JRTCA. Is that what you mean by papers?

The good news is that if your terrier is spayed, you can get her recorded. Check out this link for details: JRTCA Registration

As for that selective hearing... amazing, isn't it??? Best thing to do is enroll in an obedience class or pick up a good book on training and practice obedience with her. Dogs don't listen because they don't really thoroughly understand us. They aren't just being little jerks, though it may seem it sometimes! Here's a link to the books we recommend: Training Books My personal favorites are _How To Be Your Dog's Best Friend_ By the Monks of New Skete and _Dogs Behaving Badly_ by Dr. Nicholas Dodman.

Hope this helps!
