Question:

: Greeting,

: My wife and I went to see Jack Russell puppies in Essex (England) last weekend. They have 3 puppies (2 smooth and 1 rough), as we want the rough coat one. What concerned me about the coat, it is true that the puppies could have the options either smooth or rough coat even they all are brothers and sisters? or should all have the same coat?

Coat types come in 3 lengths Smooth, broken and rough, the later two being longer. Yes, there can be differnet coat types in a litter. My last litter had 3 smooths, 1 broken and 1 rough puppy in the litter. Actually this is quite commom to have different lengths of coats in a litter and it is all a matter of genetics.
Regards
Linda
