| Question: : Just a tip for board readers. : I bought a $5 velcro ball game at Old Navy (two velcro-backed discs that slide over your hand, allowing you to throw a tennis ball back and forth and relatively easily "catch" it by it sticking to the velcro). : My intentions were to take it to a pool party Saturday for my human guests. As we were letting the terriers run out around the pool as we were tossing the ball back and forth, Madison and Gizmo (who love to chase tennis balls) got heavily involved in the game. I was sitting at the end of the diving board and my friend was at the shallow end of the pool. The dogs ran back and forth each time we threw it. : I quickly deduced that my terriers, who aren't bred and born to retrieve (though both of mind do it fairly well, only because they know I'll throw the ball again) are more interested in chasing the ball. So we took the game to the grassy lawn and occassionally would let the dogs intercept and catch the ball, as we pitched it. : It proved to be an Excellent Jack Russell Toy(tm). Gizmo and Maddie were sound asleep on the backseat before we even left the driveway. : For terrier owners with small backyards, I think this is an inexpensive but effective means of exercising your dog(s). We are careful to supervise appropriately and to include the dogs in the game - not to exclude them and make them aggressive about catching the ball. : Robby ------------------ Response Area ------------------- |
