Question:

: we were given a jrt{we already have one} and they insist that he is a pure bred jrt altho he is much taller than our girl same colors smooth coat acts in much the same mannerisms as our girl. Its not really important that he be a pure bred but we are curious, are there actually long legged smooth coats? thanks so much for any time and attention, dog lover{grandma} sam

Hi Sam,
Check out the link below for what the breed standard calls for in a JRT. They can be anywhere from 10-15" tall at the shoulder, which is quite small to quite tall in comparison, and a balanced build (back no longer than the dog is tall). All sizes can come in all coat types. You may also want to check out the photo gallery Rick has put together from pictures submitted by JRT lovers everywhere; while not every terrier in the gallery meets the breed standard to a "t," it will give you a good idea of the enormous variety these terriers can have (which is one of my favorite things about them).
Hope this helps!
Heather
