Question:

I don't usually like to admit it but we got our little boy from a pet store. It's a long story how that actually happened but I'll spare you the details. The stories I've heard about pet store purchases only being emotional purchases and frequently result in abandoment make me very upset. I love Basil very much. He as much a part of my life as my adopted kitties and my husband! We buy in the best food, toys, etc. and give him the best care we know how. We love to play in the park and go for long walks and rides all over town. I spend time almost every day on this site reading the new posts to learn more and have read several books. I want my little boy to have a happy healthy life.

There is one main concern that I have though. How will I know if he has any genetic problems? Are there any blood tests to do to make sure he is as healthy as he appears? I know about the eye test and will be making an appointment on my next vacation. But is there anything else I can do to make sure that he isn't suffering from something that I know nothing about?

I hope I will not judged by your staff or readers by getting my pup from a pet store. He captured our hearts from the first minute and remains there unconditionally!

As always, thank you so much for all of your hard work in answering everyone's (and my) questions. I've learned so much and and grateful for the time you put into this site.
