Question:

: I have owned JRTs for 15 years now. This morning I saw a sweet little girl who had baby blue eyes and the markings of a blue australian shepard. I asked if it was a cross and the man said no it was full blooded JRT. He said the breeder told him that 10 generations previous that they had breed to an australian shepard but this one was full JRT. Is that possible?

Hi Geri,
Mixing in an Aussie or any other breed, makes a dog a mix in my book. Nothing wrong with mixes, but I am not sure that I agree that 10 generations later, when features inherant in one breed and definitely not in the other are still cropping up, it suddenly makes that line "purebred" again. It really just boils down to semantics, I guess, but blue eyes and merle markings are not typical JRT traits.
There are a lot of people out there breeding "rare traits" and passing them off as more valuable. It happens all the time, from people wanting to make a quick buck. I think it's sad, because the dogs are the victims when they're bred indiscriminately.
