Arthritis in Jack Russell's

Is arthritis a common condition in Jack Russell's? I have a 2 year old just diagnosed with this problem, he is a papered dog. He also has the problem in which his front paws curve in at the wrist area and his feet turn out. It seems it's just recently (in past 6 months) that his front legs have turned that way. I'm just wondering if this is common to this breed or more a freak thing with this particular dog.
