| Question: : : I have an 8-month old Jack Russell and she has been constantly bitting herself leaving alot of marks. I have consulted a vet and she seems to be very healthy. According to the Vet she doesn't seems to be allergy to anything. Is there any solution to this? Thanks alot in advance. : ------------------ Response Area ------------------- : Unless your vet runs tests for allergies there really isn't anyway he can rule an allergy out. : She could have a flea allergy and if she gets bit once by a flea, she can really itch all over from it. : If you don't have her on flea preventative, I highly suggest putting her on one. There's many great products out there. : Regards, ------------------ Response Area ------------------- I would also like to add to Marie's wonderful advice, How much do you bath this dog, if he/she is bathed more than every 8 to 10 weeks you could be drying its skin out and thus causing the biting. Please remember that dogs do not have the same PH has a human does, never use human Shampoos on a dog, also they do NOT replinish the oils in their skin like we do, and therefore over bathing can cause bit time problems. I takes 8 to 10 weeks for a dog to replinish the natural oils in their coat. Regards |
