Question:

: Our JRT was 8 1/2 weeks when we got her and is now almost 12 weeks. We've been going "by the book" with
: her. She gets lots of play and exercise. Is around
: lots of dogs, people, kids. The problem is agression.
: She tries to bite when we pick her up. She has bit me,
: my 7 yr old son, my 13 yr old daughter. We are getting
: ready to line up training (we've worked at home on basic comands etc.) She been to the vet. No problems. Any suggestions?

Hi Kathy,

The advice given in the Nipping/Biting FAQ here on the board is excellent and you should give it a read.

Use some of the advice given in that and try to get her used to being picked up when she is in the quiet, sleepy mode and see if this doesn't help some.

I will tell you this though, there are dogs out there that hate to be picked up and while they won't try to bite they will squirm and wriggle to get free.

Be careful too the way she is being picked up, she may be biting because she might find the way its being done uncomfortable.

Just remember that this behavior really is rather typical of puppies as they explore their boundaries and test their limits.
