Question:

: When I take our JRT outside to go pee, he just wants to play and dig in the dirt. We don't want him to dig in the dirt and when he does we pick him up and put him on the grass. He''ll just dart back to the dirt. After a couple of times doing this he'll get mad and snap at you and growl. What should we do?

Hi Darren,
Put him on a leash, and don't release him to play until he goes potty.
As far as "not wanting him to dig in the dirt," that's just going to happen with these dogs. That's what Jack Russells do, and it's part of life with them. Right now refocus his short attention span on going to the bathroom with the leash, then reward him with play. If his choice of play is digging, you may have to distract him from that also, but you are not going to rid him of that behavior entirely.
Have fun!
