Hi Amanda,

With proper containment, many JRTs live well into their teens. The biggest cause of death with these dogs is people that let them run free and most of them end up getting hit by cars.

So never let your dog off lead if you are not 110% sure he will come when called and always have a JRT-proofed fenced in yard or area for your dog.

These two things alone can help increase the life-span of your pal.
