Hi Karen,
Sometimes this is a sign of a Medical problems and the best thing to do is to have your dog checked by your Vet. After doing that, then this is also something that some dogs will do for no reason. Please do not delay in having your dog checked, because if it is a Medical realated condition it will only get worse.
