Question:

: My dog named rocky is being very aggresive around other people if they touch him our get to close to my mom. He thinks that she is his property and wont let any other dog touch her. He also has been growling at people and kind of attaking them but not really hurting them. I am scared it will get worse and the behavior specialist says that we need to show hm he can not do this by not letting him do anything without us telling him to and giving him lots of exercise. I am sure this happenes to lots of dogs and there has to be a special way of helping him. We do not want to lose him and i am very scared we are going to. If you know any special ways we can help our dog please tell us. Also if there is a person who knows alot about this problem and can help us a lot. PLEASE!!

Hi Jeff,

The first thing I would suggest is to get Rocky neutered if he isn't. This will help to lessen his aggressive tendencies but will not eliminate them altogether.

You must listen to what the behaviorist is telling you and you should enroll Rocky into a good obedience school as soon as you can.

If you do these things you will be well on your way in making Rocky a good canine citizen.

And remember, you cannot just go to school with the dog and then not work him during the week between classes. Many people think that just the session is enough and don't bother to work on the lessons during the week and then they wonder why the dog is still unruly.

Good Luck Jeff!
Marie
