Puppy vomiting (cat is doing it too)

Question:

Today my 9 wk old puppy (who sometimes sneaks the cat's food) has been vomiting periodically. She doesn't seem to be acting ill, but I also saw the cat vomit once. I checked the dates on the food and everything is in order...what could be the cause? Is this serious? Thanks!
