Question:

: We have a 1 1/2 year old female jack. We live in a big city and she has been trained on paper and to go outside. she is not confused with either, she's happy to do her business when she's out and she uses the paper when she's home. The problem is when she poops she raises her backside and poops on the wall, when she's outside she'll go up against a fence, tree whatever she can find. I've talked to my vet and the breeder and both were at a loss. Can you offer any advice regarding this bizarre problem?
: Thank you.

Hi CJ,

I have to say I know several people with terriers that do their business the same way your girl does, so this is not as uncommon as it appears.

However, I don't really have any kind of solution for you. I am answering this in the hope that our readers out there might have some ideas for you.

The only thing I can tell you about the indoor eliminating is to either move the papers to an area she can't back up on or place some plastic over the section of the wall she likes to back up on to.

The best way to eliminate at least the indoor problem is to no longer allow her to eliminate in the house and strictly use the outdoors, if this can even be an option for you. With this habit I would strongly consider it.

Marie
