Question:

: Hello!

: Thanks again for all the great information!

: I have noticed a large number of posts on tail chasing recently. I'm concerned for 2yr old Cora. She will occasionally chase her tail while engaged in a rousing bout of play. She will also do this when company comes over and she has done all her tricks. She loves being the center of attention!

: I can't say that I've ever been troubled by this before. She is a bit obsessive about lights, reflections, animals on the TV, etc. Should I look at tail-chasing as an OCD tendency? Frankly I enjoy the 15 second giggle I get from watching her. Especially the "Mom - I can't reach it, can you get that for me?" As long as I give her tail a playful tug, she seems contented and goes back to her more conventional toys.

: Should I be more worried?

: Thanks again!

Hi Kate,
If Cora's tail chasing is just occassional, short stints, I wouldn't worry about it. Every few months my Robin wakes up and remembers she has a tail. She'll chase it 2 or 3 times that day, and then forgets for another few months. I just chalk it up to extreme silliness!
Have fun!
