When is too old to train?

I aquired a 6 year old jack russell about a year ago. He has been very loyal and somewhat obedient from the beginning. Is it worth my time and money to accompany my jack russell to obedient school. I've always heard the older the dog, the tougher it is to train them. I would appreciate any information that you can provide. Thank you.
