Female Heat

Question:

I have a wonderul 7 month old female Jack Russell. I have not had her fixed yet, and to date she has only gone through one heat and to my understanding only go through two in one year.

Periodically, a clear liquid drop will appear wherever the dog has sat and the oder is very similiar to a rusty smell. I'm wondering when I get her fixed if this situation will also clear up?
