Is my Jack Russell normal?

I have a 18 month old male JRT. Even though I don't have a fenced in yard, I do fine with him. He is not constantly active but loves to play with toys and gets about 16 hours of rambunctious play a week ( not including he plays with toys a lot, too.).
I'm a stay at home " Mom". He was raised with other dogs and loves them. He loves to bark, dig, and is demanding, curious, intelligent, mischievous, and gets overly excited when I have visitors. He jumps all over everyone and tries to lick them to death.
My boy also likes to get into trash cans, walks across tables and the back of the couch like a cat, etc.
But he also will adjust to the level of activity in the house. If I want to take a nap, he will lay with me for two hours during the day. Is this normal or is my Jack weird?
Is he less hyper than most Jack Russells. I'm really curious because he's the only JRT I've been around.
