bed/crate training

My JRT is 7 weeks old. I've had him for 1 week. I bought him a dog bed, which I've accustomed him to sleeping in by my bed. I'd like for him to continue sleeping in the bed at night, but want to begin crate training for when I am here and when we travel. Is this going to be confusing for him? What do you recommend? Do I need to do away with the bed?
