| Question: : My JRT is 7 weeks old. I've had him for 1 week. I bought him a dog bed, which I've accustomed him to sleeping in by my bed. I'd like for him to continue sleeping in the bed at night, but want to begin crate training for when I am here and when we travel. Is this going to be confusing for him? What do you recommend? Do I need to do away with the bed? ------------------ Response Area ------------------- Congratulations on your new pup and for also realizing just how important crate training is. What you might want to do at night is put his bed in the crate. I wouldn't keep it there during the day, but seeing that he is used to the bed it might help with the training at night. Once he is fully crate trained you can go back to the bed outside the crate. These are smart little dogs, he should be able to figure out the difference between the two as he gets older. Good Luck and enjoy your new pup! |
