Question:

: : We have a new Jack Russell Terrier. She is 9 1/2 weeks old. When we picked her out of the litter she was very playful and energetic. Since we brought her home she seems to be going through periods of sadness. In the morning she is very happy to see everyone and very playful. But by the afternoon she seems to mope around the house and doesn't respond to us. Is it possible that she misses her litter mates? We have not left her alone for more than an hour in the week we've had her. She does spend time in her crate during the day but we have been home. I took her to the vet and he said she was very calm for a JRT but was healthy. Any advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

: : Thank you.

: You did the first step by having her checked by the vet. Could be that she is just tried by afternoon, give her some time to herself rest.

Hi Kim
Like Shannon said she could be just tired by the afternoon and you have to remember that puppies at this age have two gears, Go and Ploop!

You also have to know that she has been disrupted from her littermates and this is the only thing she has known in almost 10 weeks of her life. It normally takes up to two weeks for a puppy to be in it new enviorment to adjust to its new home and family.

Hang in there and soon you will be wondering when she will Ploop!
Happy New Year
Linda
