| Question: : I have a 7 week old JRT who has proved to have been very smart. Two days ago he fell on his side off of a step. Ever since when he knows your watching he walks either with a limp or he will walk on 3 legs. Today I came into the room and saw he was walking just fine when he didnt think anyone was there. As soon as I said something he started limping again. Can the dog really be this smart? Please give me your suggestions. Jack Russells are very stoic little dogs, oftentimes not exhibiting pain or discomfort when something's wrong. My guess is your pup stops limping when you're around because your presence distracts his mind from the pain. I'd take the pup to the vet if the limping continues. It might be just a strained muscle - however it could be something more serious. Better safe than sorry. Best, |
