Working my dog

Question:

I purchased a beautifu JRT male about a year ago. And admittedly did not do the research I should have on the breed. I love him to death but understand he is meant to be a working dog. I have never found any information of any trials being held in my area. I have always been interested in trials and would love to train my JRT for fun and exercise to do the types of events in the JRT trials. Not that I really want to enter him in any. However I don't know where to start. What type of setups would I use to show him a good time.
