I noticed my 3-year-old spayed female JR lifted her hind leg slightly to urinate on a particular spot (same spot to be specific)when I took her out for her daily morning walk. She is housebroken and into her 2nd stage of Advance training (a group of 6 dogs/handlers). She does not like other dogs but has learned to tolerate them.

Yes some females will mark although it certainly isn't as common as with male dogs.
