Hi Elizabeth.

I believe all toads secrete some type of poison when disturbed and handled. Some have stronger secretions than others like the toads down in Florida which can be deadly.

Hopefully someone with much more knowledge about toads will read this post and enlighten us!

I'm afraid there's not much you can do to stop your guy from toad hunting..you may want to mention what a benefit they are in the garden but I don't think he will care!
