Question:

: Is it common for a 17 month old female to lactate even if she is past her heat cycle and definitely not pregnant? She doesn't seem to know what to do. She almost seems a little ashamed or something. Is this normal or something that I should have investigated with my vet?

Hi Amy,
Yes, please do see your vet. She may be having a false pregnancy. Please discuss with him spaying your dog; false pregnancies can be taxing on a dog, and breeding is a much bigger commitment than you can even imagine and requires extenstive knowledge.
